What do you consider a "formal"?

A formal is any hairstyle that is not 'up'. This would be anything from a blow dry and flat iron service to a curl and set service. Basically no bobby pins are involved in the style. A formal is great if you are going to a special event but do not want to wear your hair up or it is not an event where you would have a super duper up-do, for example your hubby's company party. They are also great options for the mother-of-the-bride who wants to look special but doesn't want to take away from the bride.

What is an up-do?

An up-do is a super awesome hairstyle that usually involves one or more of the following: curls, waves, bobby pins, hair elastics, hairspray, hair serum, braids, pin curls, and maybe a fun and fancy accessory or two.
